Happy New Years Everyone!

As we go into 2012 I can’t help, like most of you, to stop and think about the last 12 months.  How were they spent?  Did I waste my time? Did I spend enough of that time with the ones I loved?  Was a good steward of my finances, my house, my friends and my family?  But the reoccurring theme I always face is… how did I steward my time?  Because really, that’s all I was given… another year to enjoy the things in my life that I’ve been so privileged to have.  As I go into 2012 I have my own resolutions about finally losing that last 15lbs, the number of weddings I’d like to capture, and the family I’d like to see… but most of all, I just want to make sure that in 2012 I’m out there living my life and not just waiting for it to happen.  Here’s a great couple who’s wedding I captured last year on this very night… Happy Anniversary Kelly & Melissa, and Happy New Years to the rest of you.  Would someone cue Auld Lang Syne now please?

Inspiration behind the Rebrand

Did you know that rebranding takes forever?  Like, really… forever.  I started this whole process back in December when things were slow, and obviously now they’re not quite so much!  So please forgive the lack of blogging… but I figured getting my clients their pictures was more important than making sure they made it up on the blog (which they will).  The other reason I wasn’t blogging was because I hated my former logo… so clerical, sterile and had NO personality.

So I began working with Ryan from Second Street Creative (who is absolutely fabulous btw), and thus began the long journey of finding something that breathed life and spoke personality.  But once we started on the logo I found that the whole website and blog needed rebranded as well.  So this 1 month logo process turned into a 7 month rebranding overhaul.

You may ask, what is the symbol in the logo… no… it’s not a cross, or a “V” or anything else… It’s a heart, and has been how I’ve started my signature for years…

I wanted something personal, something that gave insight into who I am… hence the watercolor paper background, the old beat up typewriter letters and the touch of something modern… the heart.  So here’s to a new direction and the start of something wonderful!

PS>  Thanks to all of you faithful readers who check the blog to see if I’ve posted anything, and keep asking for new material.  And yes, a Schroeder update is coming soon (let’s just say it will involve detail shots of a former pair of designer shoes)!
